Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Bill Hutchinson today congratulated Saskatchewan's junior curling teams on a pair of exciting wins for national titles.

Team Moskowy won with an 8-7 extra-end victory over Ontario at the 2011 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Meanwhile, Team Paulsen beat Alberta with a stolen 6-4 victory.

"These young teams from Saskatchewan are now going on to represent us and their country on the world stage," Hutchinson said. "That is incredibly exciting and we want them to know their province is proud of them. What great role models for all young athletes, or aspiring athletes."

Team Moskowy includes skip Braeden Moskowy, third Kirk Muyres, second Colton Flasch, lead Matt Lang and coach Dwayne Mihalicz.

Team Paulsen includes skip Trish Paulsen, third Kari Kennedy, second Kari Paulsen, lead Natalie Yanko and coach Bob Miller.

"Curling is our provincial sport, and it is fantastic to see young people in Saskatchewan excelling at the game," Hutchinson said. "In a day when we are encouraging people to get more active, it is refreshing to see our young curlers setting such a good example."

The world junior championship runs March 5-13 in Perth, Scotland.
