WORKING FOR YOU – SASKATCHEWAN ENGINEERING AND GEOSCIENCE WEEK PROCLAIMED

The week of February 29th to March 6th, 2004 has been proclaimed as "Engineering and Geoscience Week" in Saskatchewan, coinciding with National Engineering Week.

The theme for this year's week, "Professional Engineers and Professional Geoscientists – Working for You", honours the more than 5,000 registered professional engineers and geoscientists in Saskatchewan.

"This year's theme for the week rings very true with Saskatchewan Highways & Transportation," Highways and Transportation Minister Maynard Sonntag said. "Working for you, engineers and geoscientists have built the transportation infrastructure that we enjoy as a society today. However, they are also an essential part of the oil and gas industry, mining, forestry and many other sectors. This diversity underscores the significant role that engineers and geoscientists play in the economic development of our province."

"Engineers and Geoscientists are an integral part of our society," Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) President Ken From said. "From the skylines of our cities and towns to our railways, bridges and roads, these talented people have helped shape how our society functions."
