SEMINARS ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT PROVINCIAL LABOUR STANDARDS

Ever wanted to know the ins and outs of calculating holiday pay for employees, or what provincial minimum call-out pay is?

The answers to these and other questions are the focus of two free educational seminars being held at the La Ronge Motor Inn, February 7, 2007.  Session “A” will run from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. while Session “B” runs 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

The Labour Standards Act covers a lot of ground and impacts both employers and employees in very real and significant ways,” Labour Minister David Forbes said.  “It’s important that people have an opportunity to ask questions about this legislation.  This is the first in a series of seminars being held across Saskatchewan to answer questions employers and employees typically face on the job.”

Seminars will focus on some commonly asked questions relating to the Saskatchewan Labour Standards Act, including:

• Overtime
• Work schedules and rest periods
• Steps employers must follow to lay off a worker
• Family related leaves, and
• Resolving problems and addressing complaints

Information about additional seminars, as well as information about provincial labour standards, can be found at http://www.labour.gov.sk.ca.
