News Release - September 13, 2012 MAJOR RENOVATIONS TO ST. MICHAEL SCHOOL CELEBRATED WITH GRAND OPENING AND CEREMONIAL RIBBON CUTTINGToday Education Minister Russ Marchuk joined students, dignitaries and representatives from the Holy Family Roman Catholic School Division in Weyburn to celebrate the official grand opening of the school with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Phase one of this project which finished in 2007, saw renovations of the school. Now with phase two complete the school has welcomed all prior students from St. Dominic Savio school for the first time this new school year. Both phases of construction saw renovations and upgrades to the facility, including six new relocatable classrooms, the addition of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten space, as well as the completion of a performing arts area and fully equipped stage in the gymnasium. The Government of Saskatchewan has contributed around $3.9 million toward this project. "Investment into the education facilities of our students and early learners has the ability to positively impact their future success and the future success of Saskatchewan," Marchuk said. "This project demonstrates a commitment to the improvement of education outcomes for students in Weyburn and will no doubt benefit students and the community alike."
