News Release - March 8, 2007 JUNO AWARDS WEEK PROCLAIMED IN SASKATCHEWANThe spotlight will shine even more on the national music scene when artists and industry representatives visit Saskatchewan for the annual Juno Awards celebrations. The province has proclaimed March 26 – April 1, 2007 Juno Awards Week in Saskatchewan. “2007 is certainly the year of music in Saskatchewan with four high profile national music events joining the many concerts, jamborees and festivals that occur in the province each year,” Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Glenn Hagel said. “This proclamation is in recognition of the countless hours that hundreds of volunteers have spent to stage what I am confident will be the best Juno Awards celebrations ever. We are ready to show Canada’s music industry why Saskatchewan has the reputation for being the best host province in the country.” A number of activities and events are planned during Juno Awards Week, including industry showcases that will feature some of Saskatchewan’s best musical talent. The week culminates with the live broadcast of the awards ceremony on April 1, 2007. “Our province leads the nation in volunteerism and we welcome the opportunity to extend our hospitality to singers, songwriters, musicians, producers and promoters who are contributing to a vibrant industry in Saskatchewan and across Canada,” Hagel said.
