GOVERNMENT PROCLAIMS SOCIAL WORK WEEK

The government is pleased to proclaim the week of March 18-24 as Social Work Week in Saskatchewan.

This year's theme is "Social Workers: Building Relationships, Strengthening Communities, Partnering for Change".

"Social Workers play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of Saskatchewan's most vulnerable citizens," Social Services Minister June Draude said. "I want to thank them for their dedication to children, families, people with disabilities, seniors and other people in need."

"Social Workers play a vital role in strengthening communities and advocating for positive change," Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW) President Carole Bryant said. "Social Work Week is a time for all of us to celebrate our profession and the contributions we make toward a healthier and more vibrant society."

Established in 1962, the SASW has an active membership of more than 1,300 social workers who live and work in communities across the province.
