REGINA BASED CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR GUILTY OF LABOUR STANDARDS VIOLATIONS

101050094 Saskatchewan Ltd. operating as CGP Services, a construction contractor based in Regina, has been found guilty in Provincial Court on two charges under Saskatchewan’s Labour Standards Act and has been fined a total of $3,500.

CGP Services was found guilty of two counts of failing to pay final wages within 14 days after the day the termination of employment took effect.  The company’s Corporate Director was found not guilty on related charges. 

The Labour Standards Division of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety supports fair and equitable workplace practices through public awareness and enforcement of The Labour Standards Act and regulations as well as other labour legislation.  Whenever necessary, violations will be prosecuted. 

In the past twelve months, five employers have been convicted of violating different provisions of The Labour Standards Act.  Additional prosecutions against eight employers are currently pending.
