PRINCE ALBERT CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL GETS A VISIT FROM SCOTTY

Scotty, Saskatchewan's Tyrannosaurus rex, will be visiting the Prince Albert Children's Festival from May 24th to May 25th, 2005.

The Royal Saskatchewan Museum is sending a three-dimensional replica of the skull of Scotty to the Children's Festival in Prince Albert. In addition to Scotty, the main feature, the museum will display a variety of artifacts and specimens incorporating each of the galleries, First Nations, Life Sciences, and Earth Sciences.

"The display will allow young people an up-close and hands-on experience with Saskatchewan's unique diversity and history," Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Joan Beatty said.

The Royal Saskatchewan Museum is pleased to provide Scotty to the Children's Festival. Residents of Prince Albert and surrounding communities who have not seen Scotty at the RSM will be able to get a good look at a jewel from Saskatchewan's prehistoric past.

"The Royal Saskatchewan Museum recognizes the importance of making its resources available to the people of the province, especially something as exciting as a T.rex skull," Royal Saskatchewan Museum's Manager of Public Programs Paula Hill said.

This replica of Scotty's skull is one of three produced for the RSM. One is on tour in Japan, and the other is on exhibit at the T. rex Discovery Centre in Eastend.

The Royal Saskatchewan Museum is fully funded by the provincial government as part of its commitment to give the people of Saskatchewan an appreciation and understanding of our natural and cultural heritage.
