Saskatchewan will celebrate Tourism Awareness Week from May 31 - June 6.

"To maintain our province's profile as an attractive destination, the Government of Saskatchewan continues to meet its commitment of doubling tourism spending," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Dustin Duncan said. "Tourism Awareness Week provides us with the opportunity to honour those who work diligently to make the industry in Saskatchewan a success."

"Tourism encourages community pride and development and showcases Saskatchewan's remarkable assets - its rich history, diverse culture, and one-of-a-kind hospitality," Tourism Saskatchewan President/CEO Dr. Lynda Haverstock said. "This week is an opportunity to celebrate the province's many attractions, unique vacation spots, magnificent parks, must-see destinations and hidden treasures. We encourage residents to explore our beautiful province and all that it offers."

Tourism contributes about $1.47 billion to Saskatchewan's economy annually. Nearly 57,000 people are employed in tourism or tourism-related jobs.

Communities throughout Saskatchewan will be celebrating Tourism Awareness Week with public barbeques, community tours, contests and promotions.
