OWNER OF PRINCE ALBERT HAIR SALON AND SPA PLEADS GUILTY TO LABOUR STANDARDS VIOLATIONS

Carmen Street, owner of Hairmosa Day Spa of Prince Albert, has pleaded guilty to two charges under Saskatchewan's The Labour Standards Act.

Street pleaded guilty for failure to pay final wages in full and in a timely fashion under Section 48 (2) and for failure to provide payroll records upon demand by a Labour Standards Officer under Section 66 (c).

Fines of $200 and a $50 surcharge for each offence were assessed, for a total fine of $500.

The Labour Standards Branch of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety supports fair and equitable workplace practices through public awareness and enforcement of The Labour Standards Act and regulations as well as other labour legislation. Whenever necessary, violations will be prosecuted.

In the past eight months, Labour Standards has convicted seven employers for violating different provisions of the legislation. Nine additional prosecutions against employers are currently pending.
