SASKATCHEWAN DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD PRESENTED

Premier Lorne Calvert presented the Saskatchewan Distinguished Service Award to Olga Lysenska today.

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes non-residents of the province who have made outstanding contributions to Saskatchewan and the development of the provincial economy and society.

Olga Lysenska works in the Ukraine and since 1999 she has helped bring positive attention to Saskatchewan through her management role on the Canada-Ukraine Beef and Forage Project and more recently the Facility for Agricultural Reform and Modernization. Both projects are funded by the Canadian International Development Agency.

"Inter-provincial and international relations are vital to Saskatchewan and its economy," Calvert said. "We are fortunate to have close cultural, economic and social ties with people across the globe, and this award is a way for us to honour those individuals who have helped us achieve success and broaden our horizons throughout the world."

Including today's recipient, 20 non-residents have received the Distinguished Service Award since its inception in 1997.
