MEDIA ADVISORY - Health Service Disruptions Update July 6, 2007

Health services across Saskatchewan continue to operate under strike contingency plans during this time of Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan's (HSAS) limited job action.

The following are the updated statistics as of 11 a.m., July 6, 2007:

  • A total of three patients have been transferred out of province (two airlifted, one by vehicle).
  • In the Saskatoon Health Region, nine individuals have been notified that their surgery has been cancelled for a total of 94 notifications.
  • In the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region, eight individuals have been notified that their surgery has been cancelled for a total of 55 notifications.
  • Hospitals will continue to discharge patients no longer in need of acute care.

This update will be sent 2 p.m. weekdays, as long as health sector contingency plans are in effect.

Regional health authorities are providing information to the public in their communities regarding service disruptions. Residents are asked to contact their individual regional health authorities for detailed information.
