News Release - May 20, 2004 ROYAL VISIT ITINERARY
Saskatchewan people will have a number of opportunities to see The Princess Royal during her visit in June.
Today Provincial Secretary Joan Beatty announced the official itinerary of Her Royal Highness. "I know that the people of Saskatchewan will warmly welcome The Princess Royal to our province," Beatty said. The Princess Royal (Princess Anne) will visit Saskatchewan from June 4th - 7th with the focus of her visit centering on the 60th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy. On June 5th the public is invited to greet The Princess Royal at the Legislative Building for a provincial and civic welcome at 9:45 a.m. where she will participate in a D-Day Parade with the Royal Regina Rifles, of which she is Colonel-in-Chief. In the afternoon she will attend a riding demonstration at the Regina Therapeutic Riding facility and visit the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. In the evening she will attend a provincial dinner, hosted by the Premier, in honour of the 60th anniversary of D-Day. On June 6th Her Royal Highness will attend service at St. Paul's Cathedral at 10:15 a.m. following which she will unveil a D-Day anniversary postage stamp and poster for Veterans Affairs Canada and receive D-Day commemorative coins. At 1:00 p.m. The Princess Royal will receive an honourary doctor of laws degree during a special convocation at the University of Regina. Later that afternoon she will visit Regina Palliative Care at the Pasqua Hospital. At 3:00 p.m. The Princess Royal will unveil the cornerstone for the Government House Heritage Property Centennial addition and tour Government House. At 4:00 p.m., The Princess Royal will attend an open house at the Regina Humane Society. In the evening she will attend a dinner hosted by the Lieutenant Governor. On June 7th The Princess Royal will be in Saskatoon to present the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal to recipients at the King George School. After the presentation she will go to North Battleford to attend a First Nations event at the Sakewew School and visit the Pe-Ta-Pun Head-Start program for pre-school children. At 2:00 p.m. The Princess Royal will visit St. Paul's Anglican Church in North Battleford where she will view the memorial for Royal Air Force personnel lost in training. She will also be in McPhail Park to lay a wreath at the cenotaph. The Princess Royal's last engagement of the day will take place at 2:45 p.m. in the Town of Battleford, where she will attend centennial celebrations at the Battleford Centennial Park.
