News Release - April 11, 2007 ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR SASKATCHEWAN’S REGIONAL PARKSThe province is providing the Saskatchewan Regional Parks Association with $200,000 to help cover the cost of improving facilities throughout the regional parks system. “Saskatchewan’s 100 regional parks reflect community pride and offer a wide range of recreational opportunities,” Environment Minister John Nilson said. “This money will help renew and rebuild facilities in regional parks throughout the province, making them more attractive for park visitors.” The funding will be available to member parks for a broad range of projects such as improvements to water and sewer systems, solid waste management and visitor and staff safety. Each park will be able to receive grants covering 50 per cent of the cost of eligible projects, up to a maximum of $10,000 per project. The Saskatchewan Regional Parks Association will administer the program. “Regional parks are an essential part of our family of parks in Saskatchewan,” Nilson said. “This funding will help to ensure they continue to contribute to making life better for Saskatchewan families.” -30- For more information, contact: Traci Braaten |
