CANADA'S BIGGEST SCIENCE EXPERIMENT A HIT!

More than 1,700 students from across Saskatchewan are shaking it up today to help Saskatchewan Research Council scientists with Canada's Biggest Science Experiment.

"This Science Experiment demonstrates many of the great things we have in Saskatchewan," Premier Calvert said. "Our talented youth, our amazing science, and the benefits of working together for success. These are the attributes we are trying to show-off during Wide-Open-Week."

Canada's Biggest Science Experiment is a joint effort by the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) and Saskatchewan Industry and Resources. Students are convening in Saskatoon and Regina to work with SRC scientists on a real science experiment to get real results. The experiment focuses on the creation of foam using a surfactant, such as a household soap. The students use test tubes filled with water and surfactant to create a foam. Their goal is to find which soap will last the longest and have the smallest bubbles.

"SRC's aim is to create smart science solutions that will benefit industry," SRC President and CEO Dr. Laurier Schramm said. "Today's experiment shows young people an example of the kind of research we conduct, that has applications for the energy and environmental industries. It also shows them the kind of excitement that a career in science can provide."
