News Release - March 6, 2012 GAMING GRANTS INVEST $1.4 MILLION IN SASKATCHEWAN COMMUNITIESThe Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is providing $1.4 million to more than 800 organizations across the province as part of SLGA's charitable gaming grant program. "Our government is pleased to provide these charitable gaming grants in recognition of the countless efforts volunteers make in communities across Saskatchewan," Minister responsible for SLGA Tim McMillan said. "The groups and organizations receiving these funds enhance their communities through their various activities." Among the grants provided by SLGA, Lloydminster and surrounding area received $69,555; Estevan and surrounding area: $37,092; Swift Current and surrounding area: $32,941; Davidson and surrounding area: $30,370 and Humboldt and surrounding area: $28,394. These quarterly grants are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as bingos, raffles, breakopen tickets, Texas Hold'em poker and Monte Carlo events. Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts. -30- For more information, contact:
