AMBASSADOR OF NETHERLANDS VISITS SASKATCHEWAN
Provincial Secretary Donna Harpauer will meet with His Excellency Wilhelmus Geerts, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands during his visit to Saskatchewan this week. His Excellency will be in Saskatchewan November 23 to 25 to discuss Netherland-Saskatchewan relations.
"Saskatchewan's bond with the Kingdom of the Netherlands is one that reaches back to the birth of our province, when thousands of Dutch settlers arrived here to make this land their home," Harpauer said. "That bond only became stronger when Canadian soldiers, some from right here in Saskatchewan, fought alongside our Dutch brothers and sisters to free the country from occupation in World War II. We now celebrate and cherish our relationship with the Dutch people and look forward to continue to build upon it, in the months and years ahead."
While in Saskatchewan, Geerts will meet with Premier Brad Wall, Energy and Resources Minister Bill Boyd, and Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris. Meetings are also planned with representatives from the universities of Regina and Saskatchewan and members of the private sector.
The Office of the Provincial Secretary works with government, organizations, and communities, to provide opportunities to celebrate and promote the diversity, character and achievements of our province and to engage diplomats and Consular Corps who visit Saskatchewan as part of government's strategy to strengthen and build regional, national and international relationships.
