SASKATCHEWAN DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

Premier Lorne Calvert announced the names of four recipients of the Saskatchewan Distinguished Service Award today.

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes non-residents of the province who have made outstanding contributions to Saskatchewan and the development of the provincial economy and society.

Recipients are:

• Thomas Courchene, Professor at Queen's University, Kingston;

• Sir Robin Janvrin, Private Secretary to The Queen;

• John Lau, CEO of Husky Energy, Calgary; and

• J. Wilton Littlechild, Vice President of the Indigenous Parliament of the Americas, Alberta

"I am pleased that knowledgeable experts from outside Saskatchewan share our enthusiasm for the great strides we are making in this province," Calvert said. "This Award is a way for us to honour those individuals who have helped us achieve success and broaden our considerable horizons throughout the world."

"Throughout their many diverse fields, each of the recipients of the Saskatchewan Distinguished Service Award has helped bring positive attention to Saskatchewan," Provincial Secretary Joan Beatty said.

Including this year's recipients, 19 individuals have received the Distinguished Service Award since its inception in 1997.
