FLOOD ADVISORY (FISHING LAKE)

Cottage owners and seasonal campers at Fishing Lake are advised to remove the contents of their homes and cottages immediately.

Currently, the water is rising about 2 inches (5 cm) a day, and is expected to rise almost 18 inches (46 cm) above the current level before it peaks in early to mid-May.  The peak is expected to be two and a half to three feet (0.76 m to 0.9 m) higher than it was in 1997, the highest previously recorded level.

The Government of Saskatchewan has established an emergency operation centre at Leslie Beach to co-ordinate the provincial response to Fishing Lake flooding.

Saskatchewan Environment has placed the three seasonal water systems in the Fishing Lake area:  KC Beach, Leslie Beach and Chorney Beach out of service.  These systems will remain closed until it is determined water from the system is safe to use.  Saskatchewan Environment's water system start up protocol will need to be followed by waterworks owners and operator when restarting water systems.
