News Release - October 24, 2005 MISSION TO PROMOTE SASKATCHEWAN'S FILM INDUSTRY IN ASIA
Premier Lorne Calvert and film industry representatives are in Beijing this week promoting Saskatchewan's film and television industry.
"Saskatchewan has a vibrant, competitive and flourishing film industry," Calvert said. "This mission is an opportunity to forge new business partnerships and to explore new export opportunities for Saskatchewan programs." The Saskatchewan delegation will introduce China's leading film and television producers and buyers to Saskatchewan's financial incentives, infrastructure, and the quality of Saskatchewan-made programming and experience in co-production. "Saskatchewan has a lot to offer: progressive film tax incentives, state-of-the-art production studios, competitive currency exchange, low cost of doing business and experienced production partners," Calvert said. Saskatchewan delegates participating in the mission include Regina Mayor Pat Fiacco, SaskFilm CEO and Film Commissioner Valerie Creighton; and two of Saskatchewan's leading documentary production companies -- Partners in Motion president Ron Goetz; and 4 Square Productions president Gerry Sperling. Saskatchewan producers offer a wealth of experience in international co-productions and have successfully co-produced several dramatic and documentary programs around the world including China, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, the Middle East and more. -30- For More Information, Contact:
