News Release - August 21, 2009 GOVERNMENT SIGNS NEW POLICING AGREEMENTA formal agreement to address crime and community safety in northern municipalities was signed in Prince Albert today. "This agreement reflects our government's commitment to reduce crime in communities across our province," Minister of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert said. The Community Policing Framework Agreement was developed among representatives from the Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing, the Saskatchewan Association of Northern Communities (SANC), the RCMP, and other partners to improve policing services and community safety in northern municipalities. "We look forward to working with our partners to continue the work already underway and by working together, we can strengthen the relationships that are important to improving policing services in our northern communities," Huyghebaert said. Retired Prince Albert police inspector Alan Fraser has been contracted as the Northern Coordinator to administer the conditions of the agreement and to ensure local boards receive appropriate training.
