POLLING RESULTS RELEASED

Polling results released today show Saskatchewan people are largely in favour of changes brought about by the 2007-2008 provincial budget.

Sixty-three per cent of respondents rated the new Seniors Drug Plan as a highly positive change. Sixty-four per cent gave a highly positive rating to the largest ever infrastructure budget. More than half of respondents gave highly positive ratings to changes aimed at youth such as the tuition freeze, the new Graduate Tax Exemption and the addition of 2,100 new training spaces.

Overall, about 70 per cent of respondents agreed that the provincial budget is helping take Saskatchewan in the right economic direction.

Other survey results released today show:

• More than 71 per cent of respondents agree we can maintain a healthy environment while achieving a productive and sustainable future for Saskatchewan;
• More than 64 per cent of respondents had heard of the government's SaskJobs website; and
• Sixty-three per cent said it is highly important for the provincial and federal governments to maintain career and employment services offices across the province.

Public opinion polling is used to develop, deliver and improve programs and services.

The total cost of all government polling for the first quarter of 2007/2008 is $44,820.55. The next release will be in October and will cover the period from July 1 to September 30. All government polling can be found at www.executive.gov.sk.ca/polling.htm.
