News Release - October 2, 2007 UPGRADING SCHOOLS IN REGINAThe Government of Saskatchewan is investing $522,000 to improve five schools in Regina. "We are committed to working with school divisions to provide healthy, comfortable and well equipped learning environments for Saskatchewan students," Advance Education and Employment Minister and Regina Elphinstone-Centre MLA Warren McCall said on behalf of Learning Minister Deb Higgins. "When we invest in schools, we are investing in students and in the future of Saskatchewan." The capital improvement projects include:
The projects announced today are part of the Government of Saskatchewan's investment of $6.1 million to improve the learning environment in 34 Saskatchewan schools. These include improvements such as roof replacement and restoration, renovations, additions, mechanical system upgrades and building system upgrades. Funding for these projects will be cost-shared with school divisions across the province. Over the past five years the Government has invested $169.2 million in capital improvements to preK-12 schools.
