News Release - September 26, 2003 DATE SET FOR CAMPBELL INQUEST
An inquest into the death of Darwin Robert Campbell will take place December 17th to 19th, 2003, commencing at 9:30 a.m. at the Queen's Bench Courthouse, Prince Albert.
On September 15th, 2002, the 17-year-old Mr. Campbell was riding his bicycle on Highway #2 south of Prince Albert. Mr. Campbell was fatally injured when he was struck by a police vehicle that was traveling on the highway. The Chief Coroner for Saskatchewan ordered the inquest. Inquests are open to the public. Evidence is given before a six-person jury, summoned at random. In addition to establishing when and where the death occurred and the medical cause of death, the coroner's jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.
