LONG SERVICE AWARD FOR EIGHT VOLUNTEERS

Social Services Minister Glenn Hagel announced that eight volunteers with various community housing authorities are being recognized for long term volunteer service.

"As volunteers with their respective housing authorities, these people have demonstrated dedication and sensitivity to the needs of their communities for the past 25 years," Hagel said.

The 25 year service recipients include:

- Minard Thom and Janet Cooper of the Edam Housing Authority;
- Sylvia Rogerson of the Leask Housing Authority;
- David Wooff of the Turtleford Housing Authority;
- William Ector of the Elbow Housing Authority;
- Mary Scott of the Pangman Housing Authority;
- Norman Eggum of the Midale Housing Authority;
- Elmer Boehr of the Warman Housing Authority; and
- Luella Freisen of the Spiritwood Housing Authority is being recognized for her 30 years of service.

Saskatchewan's network of 280 housing authorities depends on nearly 1,500 volunteers throughout the province. Saskatchewan's Housing Authorities structure is unique in Canada and the province of Saskatchewan appreciates the value of local volunteer involvement.
