News Release - April 28, 2005 SASKATCHEWAN VOLUNTEERS HONOURED
Today, the Lieutenant Governor presented 12 citizens with the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal at the Legislative Building. The medal recognizes outstanding volunteer service or exceptional community involvement.
"Saskatchewan people have a long history of co-operation and generosity toward one another and in their communities," Premier Lorne Calvert said. "The Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal is fitting recognition for those who give freely of their time and talents and serve as role models in our communities." The recipients are: • Dr. Shakeel Akhtar, Saskatoon; • Verna Alford, White City; • Colleen Bailey, Yorkton; • Luba Crawford, Candle Lake; • Margaret Duncan, Estevan; • Dr. Tony Harras, Regina; • Mary Heimbecker, Saskatoon; • Gene Kessler, Pangman; • Henry Kloppenburg, Saskatoon; • Anne Reinhardt, Eatonia; • Ruth Robinson, Saskatoon; and • Tom Shepherd, Regina.
