News Release - July 5, 2004 SASKPOWER PRESIDENT NAMED
Premier Lorne Calvert today announced the appointment of Pat Youzwa as President and CEO of SaskPower, effective July 5th, 2004. She replaces John Wright, who was recently appointed Deputy Minister of Health.
"Ms. Youzwa brings to this key role a wealth of experience from the private and public sectors," Calvert said. "Her leadership abilities will ensure that SaskPower continues to have strong management throughout a very challenging time for the industry." Youzwa has held the position of Vice-President of Customer Services with SaskPower since 2001. She is also President and Chief Executive Officer of NorthPoint Energy Solutions, a SaskPower subsidiary. She joined SaskPower as Vice-President of Corporate Planning and Regulatory Affairs in 1999. Before that, in addition to operating her own consulting business, she held a number of senior level positions with the public service of the Government of Saskatchewan, including Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines. Youzwa serves on the Minister's Advisory Council on Science and Technology for Natural Resources Canada and she is Vice-Chair of the Natural Resources Canada Advisory Board on Energy, Science and Technology. She is also Chair of the Hospitals of Regina Foundation and a director of the Saskatchewan Institute of Public Policy. Youzwa has served on the boards of the Canadian Standards Association, Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership, SaskPower, SaskEnergy and the Canadian Energy Research Institute. She holds a Master of Arts degree in economics from the University of Toronto and Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in economics from the University of Saskatchewan. "We are very pleased that Ms. Youzwa has accepted this challenging role as President and CEO of SaskPower," SaskPower Board Chair Pat Quaroni said. "For five years in her capacities within the corporation, she has demonstrated strong leadership ability in the areas of customer services, environment, planning, and subsidiary development. With a combined industry and financial background, the Board is confident she is an excellent individual to lead the corporation into the future. "We also take the opportunity to thank John Wright who has been instrumental in moving the corporation forward in so many ways. He was sincerely committed to fostering internal and external relations, promoting a corporate green power agenda and facilitating investments in infrastructure renewal. We know he will provide great leadership in the area of health care for the province," Quaroni added. -30- For More Information, Contact:
