News Release - April 25, 2007 SASKATCHEWAN VOLUNTEERS HONOUREDToday the Lieutenant Governor presented 10 citizens with the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal at the Legislative Building. The Medal recognizes outstanding volunteer service or exceptional community involvement. “The recipients of the Volunteer Medal have made contributions that have improved their communities and enriched many lives,” Lieutenant Governor Dr. Gordon L. Barnhart said. “This Medal recognizes the generous dedication of giving people, who inspire all of us. Saskatchewan honours these remarkable individuals.” The recipients are: • Shirley Andrist, retired teacher, Estevan Recipients are selected by the Saskatchewan Honours Advisory Council from nominations submitted by the public. Including the 10 new recipients, the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal has been presented to 104 outstanding individuals since 1995.
