NEW U.S. AMBASSADOR TO CANADA MAKES FIRST VISIT TO SASKATCHEWAN

David Jacobson, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United States to Canada, makes his first official visit to Saskatchewan on October 16-18. The visit to Regina and Saskatoon comes only two weeks after assuming his new post in Ottawa.

"We are pleased to welcome Ambassador Jacobson to Saskatchewan," Premier Brad Wall said. "It's a great sign that the new Ambassador has been so quick to visit Saskatchewan and other provinces. We have an early opportunity to show what an important partner our province is for the U.S., particularly on energy and trade."

While in Saskatchewan, Ambassador Jacobson will learn more about Saskatchewan's world-leading research into carbon capture and sequestration technology, with a tour of the Weyburn-Midale Carbon Dioxide Monitoring and Storage Project, and a presentation by officials with the Petroleum Technology Research Centre. Jacobson also meet with Premier Wall and members of the provincial cabinet to discuss matters including trade, the environment and border issues.

Ambassador Jacobson's time in Saskatchewan will also include a tour of the RCMP "Depot" Division and a visit to the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron in Saskatoon.
