HUMBOLDT HOSPITAL PLANNING PROCEEDS

Health Minister John Nilson affirmed today that plans are proceeding for a new integrated health facility in Humboldt that will replace St. Elizabeth's Hospital and consolidate health services in the community.

The Saskatoon Regional Health Authority, in partnership with Saskatchewan Health, the City of Humboldt and surrounding communities and hospital agencies, has created a final list of the services and other functions to be housed in the new hospital. Saskatchewan Health will review the recommended uses, and if they are found to be appropriate for the area, the planning stage will conclude, leading to architects' designs for the structure.

"Plans for the facility are progressing well," Nilson said. "We are in good shape to break ground next year and have a completed facility in 2007. As laid out in The Action Plan for Saskatchewan Health Care, we continue to strengthen health services by investing in Saskatchewan hospitals."
