News Release - September 15, 2000 TENTATIVE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT REACHED WITH TEACHERS
Education Minister Jim Melenchuk today offered his congratulations to the
members of the government/trustee and teacher bargaining committees for reaching a tentative collective agreement. "I am particularly pleased teachers will be resuming their extra curricular activities and lunch hour supervision immediately. This is good news for our students and our schools," Melenchuk said. "I believe the two bargaining teams have achieved a new collective agreement which serves the interests of students, teachers, school boards and all Saskatchewan taxpayers." Negotiations with teachers resumed yesterday morning with a tentative agreement announced earlier this afternoon. Details of the agreement will be released after the ratification vote by teachers. The date for the vote has not been determined. -30- For more information, contact: Jacquie McLean Saskatchewan Education Regina Phone: (306) 787-5609 |
