SASKATCHEWAN HONOURS PROTECTIVE SERVICES PERSONNEL

Lieutenant Governor Gordon Barnhart and Provincial Secretary Donna Harpauer presented the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal to 33 recipients at Government House in Regina today.

"These women and men receiving this medal today have spent their careers ensuring the safety and security of the people of Saskatchewan," Harpauer said. "Their actions have had a profound impact on the people of this province, securing our communities and protecting that which we hold dear."

The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan or their property. This can be in either a volunteer or a full-time capacity.

Established in 2003, the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal is administered by the Saskatchewan Protocol Office in close co-operation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, Saskatchewan Firefighters Association and other agencies whose personnel are eligible for the honour.
