SWIFT CURRENT TO HOST HOME-BASED BUSINESS CONFERENCE

The Southwest Regional Economic Development Authority Inc. (REDA) and partners will host a home-based business conference to meet the needs of Saskatchewan entrepreneurs. The event, called Bringing Your Business Home, will be held October 20th and 21st as part of Small Business Week in Swift Current.

Small businesses in Saskatchewan, defined as those with less than $5 million in annual sales or with fewer than 50 employees, contribute more than $3.34 billion annually to the provincial economy.

"I congratulate the Southwest REDA and their partners on the work they've done to organize this event," Deputy Premier and Rural Development Minister Clay Serby said. "With over 33,000 home-based entrepreneurs working in the province, any opportunity to share new ideas that can grow their business is great for Saskatchewan."

The conference will feature the global entrepreneurial experiences of Monica Coneys, owner of Shosholoza Productions, a business consulting company. Tammy Forrester of RSVP Event Design will present an interactive trade show. Brent Kreuger of entrepreneurship training provider Global Infobrokers Inc. will speak about E-business. Justis Chase, owner of consulting company Chase and Associates, will explain how to start and operate a business on a shoe-string budget.

"Home-based businesses are growing in popularity," Southwest REDA general manager John Parker said. "We wanted to host an event that could help entrepreneurs succeed with their ventures."

Southwest REDA helped bring together key partners for the conference. Saskatchewan Rural Development's Swift Current regional office, Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food, Cypress Hills Regional College, Saskatchewan Home Based Business Association, Southwest Community Futures Development Corporation, Southwest Credit Union, Swift Current Chamber of Commerce, City of Swift Current, and the Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan Inc. have partnered with Southwest REDA in this event.

The two-day conference is open to anyone operating or interested in home-based businesses.
