HUNDREDS OF JOBS FOR STUDENTS LISTED ON SASKYOUTH.NET

Students across Saskatchewan who are looking for work this summer should add the www.saskyouth.net website to their Internet "favourites" folder.

Hundreds of career-quality jobs through the Government of Saskatchewan's $2.2 million Student Employment Experience program have been posted to the site. Positions through the Green Team, a program that supports employers hiring students in the environmental sector, will also be added later this month. The job opportunities currently posted are primarily for summer employment. Additional school year positions will be posted in the fall.

"SaskYouth.net has always been a great site for Saskatchewan young people to get information on employment, learning, community involvement and leadership opportunities," Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Glenn Hagel said. "Including information about access to great jobs on the site will make the search for career-quality employment for students a lot easier."

Hagel noted various economic indicators demonstrating the strength of Saskatchewan's economy, which is creating new opportunities for young people in the province. He cited a recent TD Bank report that documented Saskatchewan as one of the top three provinces for economic growth and average income. Saskatchewan also boasts a lower cost of living than other regions of Canada.

"We have a lot to be proud of in Saskatchewan! With our economy booming, we want to demonstrate to our young people that they can follow their dreams and succeed right here at home," Hagel said. "Our student employment programs invest both in youth and in our communities, while demonstrating the variety of job options available in Saskatchewan."

Information on the Student Employment Experience and Green Team programs, including job opportunities, is available on the Government of Saskatchewan's www.saskyouth.net website.
