News Release - April 18, 2006 CROP REPORT FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 16TH, 2006
Slightly over one per cent of the harvest was left out over the winter, and over one-third of that is expected to be combined this spring. Flooding and wild life damage made the remainder of the crops unsuitable for harvest, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food's weekly crop report.
Central and northern regions are home to the bulk of the leftover harvest. Livestock feed grain and forage supplies are reported in a carry over position, according to over 95 per cent of reporters. In a general overview, fields in the south could use rain, while fields in central and northern areas need drying conditions. Farmers are fixing fences, readying machinery, picking rocks, applying chemicals and fertilizer and cleaning grain. There were reports of seeding in the southwest. -30- For More Information, Contact:
