DEPUTY MINISTER OF CORRECTIONS AND PUBLIC SAFETY APPOINTED

Premier Lorne Calvert today announced the appointment of Terry Lang as Deputy Minister of Corrections and Public Safety. This appointment is effective May 1st.

Lang has over twenty-five years experience with the provincial public service and has extensive experience in various aspects of this portfolio. Lang has a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina and has been the Assistant Deputy Minister since February 2003.

Lang's leadership and innovation in the Corrections portfolio has been recognized over the past number of years. He received the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal in 1997 and most recently, the Premier's Award for Excellence in 2003.

"I am extremely pleased that Mr. Lang has accepted this most challenging position," Calvert said. "His understanding of the issues in this field and his extensive experience in all facets of the department's program areas will serve him well in his new role," Calvert added.
