News Release - October 21, 2010 SASKATCHEWAN TO HONOUR THE MEN AND WOMEN KILLED DURING MISSION IN AFGHANISTANProvincial Military Liaison D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert will be on hand Saturday, October 23 at 1 p.m. at the Saskatchewan War Memorial in Regina, for the unveiling of a plaque to honour the 15 individuals from Saskatchewan who died during the military mission in Afghanistan. "It is with great pride that we remember those from Saskatchewan who have given so much," Huyghebaert said. "The 15 names on this plaque serve as a permanent reminder of their sacrifice, and move us to always endeavour to make the world a better, safer and more peaceful place." Members of the public are invited to attend the unveiling at the Saskatchewan War Memorial on the Legislative Grounds, just west of the Legislature on Memorial Way. Since Canada began its mission in Afghanistan in 2002, 152 soldiers have died. Fourteen were from Saskatchewan, as well as one journalist. -30- For more information, contact:
