News Release - December 14, 2012 KRAWETZ TO PROFILE SASKATCHEWAN’S ECONOMIC SUCCESS AT FINANCE MINISTERS’ MEETINGFinance Minister Ken Krawetz will join his counterparts from other provinces and territories, along with federal Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty, at Monday's meeting of Finance Ministers in Meech Lake, Quebec. "This meeting offers the chance to profile Saskatchewan's ongoing economic success on a national stage," Krawetz said. "This includes being the only province currently projected to balance its books in 2012-13." The meeting will focus on various Canadian and global economic issues including three of particular interest to Saskatchewan: labour market shortages; improving Canada's retirement income system; and renewal of Canada's equalization program. In addition, Finance Minister Flaherty and Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney will update the provinces and territories on the national and world economic situations. "To maintain the momentum and benefits of Saskatchewan's growing economy, we need more skilled workers and this meeting provides an opportunity to discuss this important issue," Krawetz said. "Addressing Saskatchewan's labour market needs is an integral part of our Plan for Growth." -30- For more information, contact:
