News Release - May 4, 2009 REQUEST FOR SASKSMART INNOVATIONS FUND PROPOSALSThe Literacy Office of the Ministry of Education is accepting SaskSmart Innovations Fund proposals until June 4, 2009. Approximately $949,000 is available through this funding to help Saskatchewan communities address literacy challenges. "Over the past three years, since the fund was implemented, 54 communities have received SaskSmart Innovations funding support for literacy development projects across the province," Deputy Premier and Education Minister Ken Krawetz said. The SaskSmart Innovations Fund assists communities in developing and implementing local Community Literacy Plans for family and workplace literacy. Proposal writing workshops on how to prepare SaskSmart Innovations Fund proposal applications will take place in Regina, Prince Albert and Saskatoon the week of May 11 to 15, 2009. "We recognize the importance of literacy in building a strong vibrant society and to ensure that all citizens can participate in Saskatchewan's growing economy," Krawetz said.
