GOVERNMENT SETS CONDITIONS FOR EMERALD CASINO CLOSURE

Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA), Eric Cline today provided the Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation (SPPC) and the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) with the conditions for the closure of SPPC's Emerald Casino in Saskatoon and the opening of SIGA's Dakota Dunes Casino on the Whitecap Dakota First Nation.

The conditions require that all qualified Emerald Casino employees interested in working at the Dakota Dunes Casino receive an offer of employment from SIGA. As well, government has determined that SIGA will pay SPPC $2.6 million annually for 30 years to compensate it for foregone revenue.
