SWIFT CURRENT WOMEN'S GROUP RECEIVES INTERNET ACCESS AND TRAINING GRANT

John Wall, MLA for Swift Current, on behalf of Judy Bradley, minister

responsible for the Status of Women, today presented a Swift Current

women's organization with a grant to enable them to access the

Internet and train members to use the new communications technologies.

The Southwest Safe Shelter will receive $7,000 from the Women's

Organizations On Line Program, an initiative of the Saskatchewan

Women's Secretariat.

"This funding will enable the Southwest Safe Shelter to network more

easily, access information more quickly and serve the needs of their

members more effectively," Wall said.

The Southwest Safe Shelter works to co-ordinate and provide services

to victims of personal and family violence in southwest Saskatchewan.

It offers shelter, counselling, referrals, advocacy and public

education.
