PROVINCE FUNDING PROGRAM TO ASSIST YOUNG PEOPLE FACING EMPLOYMENT BARRIERS

This morning the Government of Saskatchewan announced its support of the Youth Transitions Project being administered by the Five Hills Regional Health Authority. The Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration is providing $70,000 in funding for the program.

Young people facing employment barriers can access necessary training and learn job finding skills while they build self-esteem, gain life and social skills, and learn about workplace culture through a local employment project.

The program offers young people in Saskatchewan the opportunity to build the skills critical to meet their full potential and succeed in the workplace, allowing them to participate and excel in the province's continually growing and dynamic economy.

"Successfully engaging youth in the labour market is essential to maintaining Saskatchewan's economic prosperity and developing a skilled workforce for the future" MLA for Moose Jaw North Warren Michelson, on behalf of Minister of Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Rob Norris, said. "The province is pleased to partner in this program to provide vital assistance to young people who are experiencing employment barriers."

The Youth Transitions Project will provide training, client assessments and case management services to young people between the ages of 15 and 30 who are facing a variety of employment barriers.
