News Release - September 1, 2011 THE WEEKLY PROVINCIAL HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION UPDATEWith the last long weekend of summer approaching, motorists are reminded to continue to keep their eyes on the road and watch for potential highway work still in progress as the construction season moves toward fall and more projects begin.
"Although some contractors may be shut down for the Labour Day weekend, highway work in various stages can still impact long weekend travel" Highways and Infrastructure Minister Jim Reiter said. "Remember to watch for potential Orange Zones, be alert and be prepared to stop as directed. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend." For information about emergency road closures, status of ferries and barges, along with other road activities, motorists and media can also get additional travel information from the Highway Hotline.
