GOVERNMENT SUPPORTS MOOSE JAW WITH GRANTS-IN-LIEU OF TAXES

The Government of Saskatchewan will provide the City of Moose Jaw with $507,981 through a payment of Grants-in-Lieu of Taxes.

"We are committed to supporting strong and vibrant Saskatchewan communities and one way we can do this is through the Grants-in-Lieu of Taxes program," Government Relations Minister Len Taylor said.

A four year phase-in of Grants-in-Lieu of Taxes began in 1998-99 for municipalities with government properties owned or managed by Saskatchewan Property Management Corporation (SPMC) in recognition of the municipal services provided to the properties. Grants-in-Lieu of Taxes are based on actual tax notices from municipalities.

This year $10.98 million will be paid to communities through the program. This includes 13 cities, 29 northern areas, 23 RMs and 72 towns/villages and resort villages.
