PALEO ON THE PRAIRIES

The excitement continues as the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) invites the public to the third installment in its Centennial Discovery Series – Paleo on the Prairies, this Thursday, August 3rd at 7:30 p.m, at the RSM Auditorium.

"The RSM's centennial has been a huge success to date, and I am confident that Paleo on the Prairies will be another entertaining and informative event," Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Glenn Hagel said. "Paleo on the Prairies is another great reason to visit the RSM during its centennial year and I urge everyone – citizens and visitors alike - to come and help us celebrate."

The province of Saskatchewan has a rich paleontological history. The evening event will be rich in information about fossils as heard from world-renowned paleontologist Dr. Philip Currie, and the RSM's own Dr. Harold Bryant. Dr. Currie is a professor at the University of Alberta and previously spent twenty years at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller. In addition, Lazer Blade will provide an original musical interlude created especially for this evening's event.

"It is a privilege to have Dr. Currie here at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum to talk to us about his research on dinosaurs, including Saskatchewan's own Scotty the T.rex," Curator of Earth Sciences Dr. Harold Bryant said. "This event will offer the public a rare opportunity to see Dr. Currie in person; his contributions to the world of paleontology are, to say the least, impressive."

Established when the province was not yet a year old, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum is proud to celebrate 100 years of service through stewardship.
