News Release - July 21, 2005 MORE THAN 30 BATTLEFORD-AREA FAMILIES HONOURED
More than 30 Battleford-area families received special recognition today at an event held in their honour. The Battleford-area families are all recipients of Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food's 2005 Century Family Farm Award.
Today, Minister responsible for Information Services Corporation of Saskatchewan (ISC) Eric Cline presented the families with framed copies of their families' original land grants. Receiving this award is a very significant achievement because it requires that members of the same family have farmed their land continuously for 100 years or more. Minister responsible for ISC Eric Cline congratulated all recipients and their families. "It is a true testament to the Saskatchewan spirit that there are so many families receiving this award today," Cline said. "I want to commend you and your families for your commitment and belief in this province." The presentation of these grants is part of ISC's centennial project for 2005. The province's land titles registry, now an arm of ISC, has been involved in recording the granting and titling of land in Saskatchewan since 1886. ISC is making similar presentations to more than 350 recipients of the 2005 Century Family Farm Award across the province throughout the summer. ISC is the provincial crown corporation responsible for the administration of provincial land titles, surveys, mapping and geographic information services as well as the personal property registry. The Century Family Farm Award initiative is run by Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food. For more information on this initiative, visit Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food's website at www.agr.gov.sk.ca.
