REGINA BUSINESS FINED FOR FALL PROTECTION VIOLATION

On December 16, 2011, L & B Roofing Ltd. of Regina pleaded guilty to one count under The Occupational Health and Safety Act related to a failure to ensure a fall protection system where a worker may fall three meters or more. The company was fined $580 in Regina Provincial Court.

Two other charges against the company were stayed.

The conviction related to an inspection that took place on October 7, 2010. An Occupational Health Officer observed two workers at the edge of a roof without fall protection.

Occupational Health and Safety conducts about 4,500 worksite inspections annually to ensure standards are known, understood and enforced, and investigates where workers are killed or seriously injured in a work related incident.
