HIGH REVENUES CONTINUE AT THE SASKATCHEWAN GAMING CORPORATION

The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation (SGC), which operates Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw, continues to ensure a high level of sustainable profitability for Saskatchewan residents by posting a net income of $34.9 million over the 2006-2007 fiscal year.

"The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation continues to play a vital role in the local and provincial economy," Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation President and CEO Marty Klyne said. "This year was an exceptional one for us, introducing new games and services that continue to help us deliver on our brand promise, ‘Always Entertaining'."

One hundred per cent of SGC's profits are delivered to the province's General Revenue Fund. An amount equal to 25 per cent of SGC's profit is distributed to non-profit community organizations through the Community Initiatives Fund. Similarly, 25 per cent is allocated to the First Nations Trust Fund to fund initiatives in First Nations communities. Fifty per cent is distributed to important provincial programs through the General Revenue Fund.

The 2006-2007 net income is based on revenues of $102 million and expenses of $67.1 million.

It was a busy year at SGC. Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw played a lead role in the most anticipated concert event in the province as promotional partners for the Rolling Stones - A Bigger Bang performances in Regina in October. "Through our promotional partnership in bringing The Rolling Stones to the province, we again fulfilled our promise to offer exciting, world class entertainment," Klyne said. "We were thrilled to help make it happen!"

Other highlights of the past year include being named one of Saskatchewan's Top 10 Employers, and being named finalist for the Tourism Association Industry of Canada's Business of the Year award.

"We are also proud to have one of the most inclusive workforces in the country," Klyne said. The total workforce for Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw is 1,010 employees. Aboriginal employees represent approximately 50 per cent of the total workforce.
