SASKATCHEWAN VOLUNTEERS HONOURED

Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock announced the names of ten citizens who will receive the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal for 2005.

The recipients are:

• Donna Challis, North Battleford
• Richard Dubé, Saskatoon
• Réal Forest, Gravelbourg
• Mitchell Holash, Prince Albert
• Mary Houston, Saskatoon
• Shirley Isbister, Saskatoon
• R. Lloyd Jones, Regina
• Carol Peterson, Ogema
• Marianne Skoropad, Regina
• Cyrus Standing, Prince Albert

The Lieutenant Governor will present the medals at a ceremony at the Legislature May 1st.

Recipients are selected by the Saskatchewan Honours Advisory Council from nominations submitted by the public. The medal recognizes outstanding volunteer service and exceptional community involvement beyond the individual's normal employment or profession.

Including this year's recipients, 94 Saskatchewan citizens have been awarded the Volunteer Medal since its inception in 1995.
