News Release - June 17, 2004 THE PREMIER'S AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE
Premier Lorne Calvert today presented outstanding public servants with The Premier's Award for Excellence in the Public Service for their work in helping to make a better Saskatchewan.
"This group of talented individuals represents this province every day as they go about their work." Calvert said. "They make a better life for others and serve as role models among their colleagues and in their communities. It is fitting that we have the opportunity to honour them during National Public Service Week." The week of June 13th – 19th is designated for the recognition of the contributions of public servants across the country to the quality of life for all Canadians. Individual employees or teams from government departments, most Treasury Board Crown Corporations, boards, commissions, and agencies were eligible for nomination in three categories: Innovation, Quality Service, and Leadership. Nominations for the award came from the public service, stakeholder organizations, clients, and the public. This year, a total of 21 nominations were received for employees in 10 departments or agencies. This year's award recipients are: Individuals: - Dennis Sherratt, Saskatchewan Environment (Leadership category) - Ernestine Starr, Saskatchewan Community Resources & Employment (Quality Service category) Teams: - Aboriginal Employment Development Program, Saskatchewan Government Relations and Aboriginal Affairs (Innovation category) - Mineral Exploration Incentive Program, Saskatchewan Industry and Resources (Leadership category) - Action Swift Current, Saskatchewan Industry and Resources (Leadership category) - Regina Auto Theft Strategy, Saskatchewan Justice and Corrections and Public Safety (Innovation category) An independent selection panel chaired by Brian Johnson, CEO of Crown Life, reviewed the nominations and made the decision on who would receive the award.
